Premium estimate: Based on 2026 CMS benchmark Silver plan rates, adjusted using the ACA age curve factor (1.000 at 21 to 3.000 at 64) and state-specific cost multipliers from rate filing data.
Subsidy calculation: Uses the 2026 Federal Poverty Level thresholds and expected contribution percentages. Below 400% FPL, your expected premium contribution ranges from 2.15% to 8.5% of income. The subsidy is the difference between the benchmark Silver premium and your expected contribution.
Out-of-pocket estimate: Based on Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) data for average healthcare utilization at three levels. Combines expected deductible spending, copays, and coinsurance based on your selected plan tier.
